The Lowell Varsity Boys played yesterday in the MHSAA Regionals at Lake Doster. This was a deep tournament, having 6 teams ranked in the top twenty in MI for division 2. Lowell is one of those ranked teams. We knew going in, we had a challenging event, but we are a good team, too. The incredibly competitive OK White Conference helped to develop our Lowell team.
Lowell had a slow start to the event, but the confidence to compete is what LHS golf is as they trust themselves. These guys worked to erase that start and we nearly pulled off a trip to the State Finals. We finished fourth as the top three teams move on. This IS a good program and the boys are saddened by the results. They need to be proud of how far they have come as a team and a program. It is sad to see the season come to an end.
Lowell shot a 342 yesterday. Our team 4-count was: Drew Veldman - 82. Patrick DeVoest - 84. Nicholas Lothian - 86. Cameron Sluss - 90.
Our program is getting stronger and deeper. Our 2023 team has a bright future as we see our strengths. Lance Perkins is a bright spot for our JV needs and he is a solid coach and one we needed. Kim Stevens provides good experience at the JV developmental team. Josh Bruwer teams up for us to provide a solid golf camp for kids. The winter program develops players for those who attend. The most impressive part of this program is the integrity and dedication of the kids and parents.
